Early Beginnings: Aja’ Moore is a true athlete that has soared high above other competitors…literally. She was born in Chattanooga but became a Georgia resident in her early childhood. She currently is a student at Kennesaw State University where she aspires to be a middle school mathematics teacher. What sounds like a normal college student, desiring to teach after moving from one state, is just the beginning of this champion’s tale. Aja’ is a competitive cheerleader who is decorated with many medals and awards on a national and world level. Catching up to her is a challenge, as she is a full time student with many extracurricular activities that she participates in such as being an RA, a cheer coach at World of Gymnastics and Cheer, a member of the Sigma Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and a competitive cheerleader at Kennesaw State University to name a few.
Aja’s story is true showing of how starting as a young athlete can propel you to the top of your game. She began cheering in sixth grade and never stopped. She knew it was something she loved, and she was good…really good. Aja’ reflected on here early beginnings as a young sister watching her older sister cheering in high school. As most young children do, she desired to be like her big sister and followed in her footsteps. She began to go to all of her sister’s practices and began to pick up on the cheers very quickly. The saw her dedication and she became their mascot, ultimately being able to cheer at the games. Her talent didn’t go unnoticed and her mother placed her in a local rec league and later in tumbling classes. The rest is history.
Staying on Top: After completing high school, Aja’ became a student at Kennesaw State University where she found a new team with the Kennesaw State University Competitive Cheerleaders. During her athletic career she has won up to 40 national championships, the cheerleading world championship in 2010, and has met fabulous cheerleaders from all over the USA and world. As this list is not impressive enough, she has been selected to represent the United States of America at the International Cheer Union World Championships in April, as a member of the 2014 Team USA All-girl squad! Team USA All Girl is a highly selective organization and has the best female cheerleaders in the USA. The competition will be aired in June, so look out for her!
Being a collegiate athlete and being so busy with studies and extracurricular activities are hard to juggle, but Aja’ has found a way to do that and stay in shape. She is not a health nut and credits her physique to her high intensity workouts. Currently Aja’ is doing Lent and has removed fast food and candy from her diet. A regular diet for Aja’ is whatever she craves!!! Her high metabolism offsets the foods that she does eat but she does stay hydrated because she is constantly active. One thing that is constant is that she never skips breakfast because it is the most important meal of the day. She does not take supplements, but she does an old athlete’s trick of eating a spoonful of peanut butter every day to help build muscle. Her diet pushes her to work out to keep in shape and on top of her game, and flying high in the air! Usually for her workouts, she trains with the competitive cheerleading team three times a week doing stunts, tumbling, jumping, dancing and running. These workouts are not for the light hearted! One thing that she does do is utilize the Nike Fit Training Club App on her phone, which is great for busy people who are always on the run. She does two workouts a week from there along with her cheer practice. She also is a cheer coach which keeps her on her toes and an inspiration to other young women who desire to walk in her shoes. The young cheerleaders are her motivation and she believes that as a leader, you must practice what you preach.
